Sports Medicine, Sports Medicine - Athletic Training
Job Purpose Towson University, a Division I member of the Colonial Athletic Association, is seeking an Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer will manage medical care and comprehensive athletic training services for student-athletes including, but not limited to, medical clearance, injury prevention, care of athletic injuries and rehabilitation.
Description The Athletic Trainer will apply evaluative skills and techniques for orthopedic and medical problems associated with intercollegiate athletics; record, analyze and maintain medical records; participate in the medical clearance and evaluation of incoming and returning student-athletes. In consultation with the Head Athletic Trainer, formulates effective therapeutic treatment plans, implements treatments, and monitors progress; communicates and interacts with medical professionals, coaches and administrative staff; coordinates diagnostic tests; serves as a preceptor in the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP); provides supervision of athletic training students during their clinical experience; and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Masters degree and one year of clinical experience in athletic training required. The selected candidate must have Board of Certification (BOC); be Maryland State License eligible; and have the ability to evaluate medical condition of student-athletes prior to, and during, their participation in intercollegiate athletics. Experience in injury prevention programming and performance enhancement models is preferred.
