PROFILE of the UNIVERSITY
UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 28,000 students and 3,300 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. ROLE of the POSITION
The Director of Intercollegiate Athletics reports directly to the President of the University and serves as a member of the President’s Cabinet. The Athletic Director is the senior officer for a comprehensive athletic program that includes revenues in excess of $26 million, 93 employees, and 17 men’s and women’s NCAA Division I programs currently competing in the Mountain West Conference. The Athletic Director is also directly responsible for the Thomas and Mack Center/Sam Boyd Stadium/Cox Pavilion Special Events programs and venues, with annual revenue of approximately $28 million and 94 employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will exhibit high standards of integrity, a dedication to academic excellence, student success, and a commitment to the strategic goals and mission of the University. Candidates must also display the ability to provide leadership and direction for intercollegiate athletics on campus, and demonstrated success in fund raising activities. Demonstrated skills and success in resource and personnel management and leadership of a large and complex department is required as well.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited program is required, with preference being given to candidates with a Master’s degree or higher. Five years professional experience in a senior, athletic administration role or equivalent, preferably at an NCAA Division I institution, is preferred. Applicants must also have extensive knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment of intercollegiate athletics and a dedication to abide by the letter and intent of NCAA and conference regulations.

Other skills required include effective public speaking, marketing, community and donor relations, and the ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written forms with the varied constituencies involved in college athletics: faculty, staff, administrators, students, alumni, donors, media representatives and others.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
