Job Description
Fontbonne University seeks candidates for the position of Athletic Director. The Director is responsible for the oversight of the athletic program, consisting of 18 intercollegiate teams; club sports; and intramural programs. The Athletic Director reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Athletic Department is part of the Student Affairs division. Fontbonne is a member of NCAA Division III and SLIAC (St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference).

Duties include: • Ensuring that the athletic program is operated in a manner consistent with the University’s mission, vision, values, and Catholic identity • Ensuring that the athletic program adheres to the policies, practices, and procedures of the University • Ensuring that the athletic program is in compliance with the all regulations of NCAA Division III • In conjunction with the Associate Athletic Director, overseeing the hiring, supervision, performance, and evaluation of all full-time and part-time athletic personnel • Overseeing the building operations of the Student Activity Center and the maintenance of campus athletic facilities and equipment • Maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with off-campus athletics facility managers and investigating and securing additional facilities as needed • Managing the athletic departmental budget in a fiscally responsible manner • Overseeing recruiting for all athletic team programs • Collaborating with Academic Affairs and other relevant departments to help retain student athletes • Working with the Faculty Athletic Council and the Student Athletic Advisory Committee • Exploring opportunities for additional NCAA sports • Promoting and developing summer athletic camps • Active involvement in the NCAA and participation in SLIAC governance • In collaboration with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and the approval of the Vice President for Student Affairs, conducting authorized fundraising for athletics

Requirements
Successful candidates must have a master’s degree and a minimum of three years athletic administrative experience, preferably in a Division III college or university setting. A strong commitment to the educational and athletic philosophy of the University and of NCAA Division III is essential. Effective interpersonal skills, communications skills (oral and written), organizational skills, demonstrated leadership abilities, and a commitment to collaborative teamwork are required.
